This incredible fan video asks users to join the Fortnite Medic Corps in their next team game

There are no character classes in Fortnite: you, and every other player, are out there to kill your opponents and survive with your teammates. But the latest Fortnite sketch from Sushii Films imagines another way: what if you played Fortnite as a dedicated medic instead?

The concept alone is already fantastic, putting a spin on Fortnite’s gameplay by trying to save as many teammates as possible instead of just simply murdering your opponents. Throughout the two minute short, we see the roleplaying medic pull off all kinds of amazing feats: skillfully drifting through a hail of bullets, expertly jumping in with a perfectly placed wall to save a teammate, and rolling up in one of the newly added golf carts to ferry players away from the encroaching storm. There’s even a makeshift field hospital, stocked to the brim with bandages, shield potions, and health packs. All delivered with a calm, professional salute.

But what really elevates Sushii Films’ short is the sheer production value — everything from the music (Bonnie Tyler’s “Holding Out For A Hero,” of course) to the camera angles and the editing are all masterfully done for comedic and dramatic effect.

But while the Fortnite Medic Corps may only exist for one (albeit extremely good) video, it does bring to mind other player-based aid organizations that have sprung up around online games, like Elite: Dangerous’ Fuel Rats, a wholly player-organized guild of pilots who do their best to help rescue fellow star pilots that are adrift in space.

And who knows? Given Fortnite players’ fondness for embracing role-playing in the online shooter with things like the unofficial “Protect the President” challenge, maybe we’ll see a more widespread version of the Medic Corps start to spring up in games, too.
